Post chelsea

Chelsea Final show

Drawings

From my inspirations I collated a few objects which represented my brief, using the angular repletion of bones, and the alien evolution of flowers within the forms.

The association, within nature truly fascinates me. The way that the same designs are repeats throughout completely different forms.

a big inspiration of mine were X-rays, where lines and angles are enhanced, with the transparency of the object.

This is an inspirational railing for my project, just outside Chelsea, and wonderful manipulated form. Really reveals the friction harshness however beauty which I have represented within my designs. the fact that something so floral, and decorative can represent such harsh characteristics.

It was wonderful to see one of Daniel Widrigs sculptures in real life at the New brewery arts exhibition this Easter.

His website is one of my MASSIVE inspirations, with truly stunning architectural designs. the seem to reflect natural forms and structures. And his constant revival of new designs is just ongoing! http://www.danielwidrig.com/
When i found this image the question was on the Website
Is this just fashion or art?
this is a massive quandary when displaying my own work, I seem to represent both wearable, and displayable pieces. a buyer said to me today that she will wear at special occasions, but display it as art when she is not using it. I love the versatility that textiles has both to hold the respect of art, and both be cutting edge as a fashion pieces. truly solving the crisis of our throw away society, of giving fashion and jewelry the same respect as actual art forms.

Textile future Exhibition CSM

Textile future Exhibition CSM
i really enjoyed the MA in textile futures. the briefs were wonderful, with the application of human biology with mineral and alien qualities. a brief from Laura Martinez, digicrafted, revealed how the application of textile craft design within a digital setting can create a unique and emotional quality to was is seen as a cold and soulless way of manufacturing.
another brief drew fro Natsai Chiesa, looks in to the connection between the public and the movements within science and experiments within biology. really fascinating topics!

Flower reseach

walking around London i have been truly inspired by the opening flowers in peoples gardens. The repetition within my life results in me being able to witness their bloom developments each day. i love the hidden section of flowers protected by the folds of the petal.
